# Honeysuckle

Bush honeysuckle, including Amur, Morrow and Tartarian honeysuckle, is a group of non-native upright shrubs that invade Ohio forests and yards.

Ohio State University describes bush honeysuckle as upright deciduous shrubs with long arching branches. They are commonly 6 to 20 feet tall and have shallow root systems. They came to the United States in the mid to late 1800s from Europe and Asia as ornamentals, wildlife food and cover, and erosion control.

OSU says simply cutting the shrub at the base causes prolific sprouting and increases the number of stems. A cut shrub also leaves a [stump](https://cincystump.multisites.ai/glossary/stump) that can send up new growth.
