Arboriculture
Arborist
An arborist is a professional who cares for trees. TreesAreGood.org describes arborists as people knowledgeable in the care needed to sustain a tree's life and long-term benefits.
TreesAreGood.org, run by the International Society of Arboriculture, says arborists care for trees. It calls professional tree care providers individuals knowledgeable in the care needed to sustain a tree's life and long-term benefits.
ISA says tree work should be done only by those trained and equipped to work safely in trees, because pruning or removing large trees can be dangerous. It lists pruning and storm-damage work among arborist services. Many arborists hold a credential. See ISA Certified Arborist for what that title means and arboriculture for the field. A sick or dying tree is a question for an arborist, not for a stump page.
