OHIO811
OHIO811 is the Ohio service that sends excavation notices to registered utilities so they can mark buried lines, and Ohio law sets notice windows before digging.
OHIO811 says it is the communication link between the excavator and those who own or operate underground utilities. When you contact it before you dig, it submits your excavation plans to the utilities registered with the service. Those utilities then locate and mark their underground lines.
OHIO811 states that under Ohio law it must be notified at least 2 working days, but no more than 16 calendar days, before digging. Not every utility is registered, and private lines may not be marked. See private utility line and locate ticket. Read the guide on whether you need to call 811 for stump grinding for how this applies to stump work.
