Street tree

A street tree is a tree on public land along a street, usually between the sidewalk and the curb, and cities such as Covington and Cincinnati manage them.

The City of Covington, Kentucky, asks residents to fill out a Street Tree Permit before they plant, prune or remove a tree in the space between the sidewalk and the street in front of their house. The city prunes street trees on a regular schedule.

Cincinnati Parks Urban Forestry says its team is responsible for the maintenance of all City street trees, or any trees in a right-of-way. Cincinnati 311 takes requests to remove the stumps of public trees. Start with the city, not a contractor. See tree lawn for the strip itself and public tree work permit for the approval step. The post on Covington's street tree permit and your stump has details.
